Thoughts on Work & Self Care

April 6, 2015 Boonie Sripom

Sometimes a job is just a job, and sometimes a job is something more. Many of us, including me, have become our jobs where we lose our sense of self, and burn out (teachers, officers, therapists, first responders, nurses, doctors, healers, parents...) I'm starting a new job and wanted to make a video to remind myself to do self care, and do things for me so I can continue doing the best I can.

What kinda of self care do you do, and how have you managed personal and professional things?

Thoughts on Kindness

February 19, 2015 Boonie Sripom

I attended a wedding for a friend from high school and resonated with the kindness he shared over fifteen years ago. I just wanted to encourage others to be kind because you'll never know how that one gesture can follow someone for life.

Kindness is never wasted.

Response to HuffPost Article: The Likely Cause of Addiction

January 26, 2015 Boonie Sripom

Response to Huffington Post article on where addiction likely comes from.

Also want to say that there may be predisposed brains and bodies to it, but this is a general response on the social and loneliness aspect of the article. Our compulsions to repeat will very likely remain over a lifetime, but the urge may decrease and the bouts may decrease with a better interpersonal quality of life. Please read and share your responses :)

CBT Cognitive Triangles & Journaling

January 26, 2015 Boonie Sripom

Wanted to share a CBT intervention that I thought was pretty neat. Cognitive triangles can help us organize our thoughts, feelings, and identifying behaviors related to a trigger event. These triangles can also help us step back and process alternative thoughts of behaviors that may help us see things more positively.

Try it out and let me know how it goes :)

Bowen Family Systems Therapy (BFST) - Differentiation & MBTI

January 26, 2015 Boonie Sripom

There are many variables that affect how people process the words of others. This video is a general comment on MBTI and seeking balance with being more rational or feeling with processing information.

There may be other parts of a person to address, and other skills that may help. Therapists may be able to offer support in learning new coping tools while seeking balance with thinking or feeling preferences.
