Happiness & Gratitude

August 26, 2015 Boonie Sripom

How does one maintain a life filled with happiness and gratitude? Are there are tips and does it get easier as we age? I'm inclined to believe so; wisdom does come with time and life experience, so I'm hoping to get some tidbits from others willing to share. Thank you so much for watching :)

Culture, Ethnicity, and Identity

July 13, 2015 Boonie Sripom

How do you define your identity?

- Is it through culture? - Is it through ethnic origin? - Is there a difference?

- Is identity what you do? - Why does it matter?

Being Prisoners of Our Past

June 29, 2015 Boonie Sripom

I stated going back in to the family system can help confirm growth. This is not the case for all people, of course, there are situations where it isn't realistic or safe to do so. Having witness to one's change is the important part, to be surrounded by positivity and encouragement to grow.

Thoughts on Death & Saying Goodbye

June 22, 2015 Boonie Sripom

When we're young, talking about death may not have been a normal thing. Considering the lifespan and different types of losses a person goes through, it would make sense to prepare a child to cope through losses and death. Our culture does not promote an openness or acceptance of loss, so it may be difficult for many of us to cope the first few times a major loss occurs. Here are some thoughts related to our culture of not acknowledging loss, and some ways to foster dialogue and coping with loss.

Questions on Creativity & Mental Illness

June 15, 2015 Boonie Sripom

Searching for answers and thoughts on being creative and having mental illness

There are some stigmas with identifying as artistic. Some acknowledge correlations exist, some do not. Some believe that these labels limit our identities and some believe there are social constructs at play pairing mental illness with having a creative lifestyle.

I've had interesting comments/dialogue so far.

What are your thoughts on being creative?

It's been a year, and I want to take some time to reflect on the growth, and encourage others to baby step towards their goals.

What are some things you're taking baby steps towards?

Introversion is Not Mental Illness

May 17, 2015 Boonie Sripom

Introversion is a preference in processing information and stimulation. It's not being shy or antisocial. Difference is just difference. We extroverts can benefit by taking time to process more slowly to give our introverted cousins time to add valuable thoughts to the dialogue.

Maladaptive Survival Skills

May 14, 2015 Boonie Sripom

Happy May! It's Mental Health Awareness Month, and Ollie and I wanted to share about coping skills that served a purpose in the past yet can impede growth in the present. Awareness and learning new tools can help, and it's a long process involving healing, forgiveness, and growth. Baby steps.
